weight control

Hypnotherapy has proved very
successful for the treatment of weight control and weight loss as the habits
that are continuing the problem are often locked in the subconscious of the
mind. With hypnotherapy a person can be taught a new healthier lifestyle
which will promote the desired weight loss instead of the negative eating
habits which create the symptoms to start off with. With hypnosis a person
can help to change their negative eating patterns so that new ones can
replace them. Any food urges can be helped by the power of
Thought Field Therapy (TFT).
Often emotional issues go hand
in hand with the person who is trying to lose weight. Weight loss can only
be successful with the successful resolution so these issues so that any
therapeutic work can be effective. I find that my weight control clients
come into two categories.
1.
The first
personality type is moderately overweight by perhaps only 12–24 lbs. This
person is not obese but feels self-conscious about his or her body and
perhaps feels a little embarrassed about letting people see the “real them”
under their clothes. This person can usually hide their excess weight quite
easily from other people as it is usually not so noticeable but they cannot
hide it from themselves. This is more of an annoyance to the person rather
than a health problem. More often than not I have found that it is a boredom
problem rather than an emotional problem. As it says in Chapter 4 in the
Principles of Life book, the mind needs to be stimulated or else it will
look for something to give you a bit of “drama”. The weight increase can
often become your drama as your mind is screaming for something new to think
about. The person who has this slight weight problem was probably once quite
active and adventurous but now life has hit a rut. The same old things day
in and day out provide no real stimulation so the mind creates a symptom to
let them know it needs exercising. Often tiredness through looking after
kids can cause a slow down in metabolism.
2.
The next
personality is the overweight person who is more than 24 lbs overweight and
can weigh in excess of 300 lbs. More often than not, the person who suffers
from this complaint is seeking something through eating that they cannot get
through everyday means. They are trying to manage their emotions
through food. With every
behaviour that we have there is always a payoff for it somewhere down the
line otherwise we would not do it. This could be an emotional need not being
met, a lack of self-esteem, an overactive conscious mind, a defence
mechanism, or even a lack of proper knowledge about good food versus bad.
More often than not, though, the person who is overweight is actually quite
knowledgeable where it comes to nutrition, even sometimes more so than
myself. If a person is quite heavily overweight they usually have been on
every diet and fad and have built up a sizeable knowledge base where food is
concerned but cannot break free from the cycle into which they have
conditioned themselves.
Most weight loss treatments are
done on a three-session basis with a one-month follow up appointment to
check on progress and address any challenges. A weight loss of around 14lbs
is achieved in that 3-week period with a new mental program in place to help
you lose the rest if required. Thought re-training is taught to every client
I see, as it is invaluable if success is you aim. You will not be successful
if the conscious mind is running the show. The conscious mind is usually the
reason why people overeat in the first place. I find that eating food can be
used as an escape from the constant chattering of the conscious mind!
For those who cannot for
whatever reason see me personally the
Principles of Life book
is the solution to your problems with all the strategies for successful
weight control. Weight loss can be achieved by studying the simple guides
and exercises in the book.
